Digital Media defines any media that are encoded in machine - readable formats. It can be created, viewed, distributed, modified, listened to, and preserved on a digital electronics device.


                         


Digital - defined as any data represented with a series of digits

Media - refers to a method of broadcasting or communicating information

Digital Media is of 3 types :

  1. Earned Media - It refers to publicity gained through promotional efforts. 

                                    Media activity related to a company or brand that is not directly                     

                                    Generated by the company or its agent but rather by other 

                                    Entities such as customers or journalists.

                                    Types of Earned Media Channels - 

  • Media publicity

  • SEO

  • Social Media review sites

  • Word of mouth marketing



  1. Owned Media - It is any online property owned and controlled by a brand, such        as a blog, website, or social media channels. The more owned media channels a business has, the larger their larger footprint which means more potential reach to customers and followers. 

    Purpose of Owned Media includes -

  • It gives every brand an opportunity to take control over their own message, establish a distinct voice in the market and create stories they would like to see covered 

  • If it goes well, owned media is done well, the quality of the content can generate earned media opportunities. 



  1. Paid Media - It is marketing that you pay. It includes ads, print advertising, sponsorships and other forms of media.

Purpose of Paid Media includes -

  • Paid media can be an effective opportunity to expand your brand reach, get more clicks, and generate more traffic. 



Digital Media is highly effective and helps in promoting any kind of service or product. It demonstrated to be a good ground for teaching students how to work in groups. The structure of creative teams executing different tasks such as photoshoots, short videos, was appropriate when clear roles and responsibilities were defined at the beginning of the project.
